Belden Supports Global Fight Against Coronavirus
Along with many organizations worldwide, Belden and associated brands are finding ways to support local efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19. We are proud to share our knowledge and resources in hopes that together we can overcome this pandemic.
IT Disaster Resource Center (ITDRC) Support
Belden is donating Ethernet cables, connectors and termination tools to support reliable data communication for the ITDRC. This center is responsible for data networks within temporary hospitals and a number of communities around the country. These products will deliver the necessary connectivity for their critical communication.
Wuhan Hospital Support
To support Huoshenshan Hospital and Leishenshan Hospital — two new emergency quarantine and treatment hospitals in Caidian, Wuhan — Belden donated Ethernet cabling products to build the networking systems for both new hospitals. All products donated by Belden are RoHS compliant, to fulfill the strict requirements for hospitals.
Face Shields
PPC Broadband, Inc., a Belden company located in Syracuse, New York, collaborated with local community groups to produce and donate face shields for medical workers. PPC's team is using its 3D printers to create face shield components, which are then assembled and distributed to many local hospitals through a network of volunteers. The initiative was started by a Central New York duo who designed the 3D printing template in the basement of their local business. PPC was able to strengthen their efforts by donating and sourcing materials, as well as providing logistical and production support.
Surgical Masks
To complement the local face shield initiative, PPC recently donated 5,000 surgical masks to the Syracuse Community Health Center, one of the area’s first COVID-19 test facilities.
In addition, Belden’s Richmond Plant donated 1,000 surgical masks to Reid Health in Richmond, IN.
Reusable N95 Masks
PPC is rapidly developing and testing designs for reusable hard-shell N95 masks. As they have with the 3D printed face shields, a group of volunteers - hosted by the publicly-owned Central New York Film Hub - will help assemble the masks and manage donation logistics. A free template will be universally available for download and mass production.
Medical Prioritization
Alpha Wire, a Belden brand, will partner with General Motors and Ventec Life Systems on the production of ventilators and is in close communication with additional healthcare manufacturers on multiple opportunities. Alpha Wire will also provide longer-length cable samples for medical and emergency applications.
As a business supporting critical industries, we are grateful for all of our team members who continue their important work during this national crisis. A sincere thank you goes out to our team members - and to everyone across the world - who are coming together during this severe health crisis.
